Shelley Gordon has been a Therapist since 1983, and an Imago Relationship Therapist since 1996. She is an advanced clinician with Imago Relationships International. Shelley is registered with the BC College of Social Workers, and The BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She also has training in Somatic Transformation and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Shelley worked as a counsellor at the BC Cancer Agency for 10 years, and has a good understanding of the psychosocial issues of people who are dealing with cancer, or chronic illness, grief and bereavement. Before training as an Imago Therapist, Shelley worked for many years with adult survivors of childhood abuse and has integrated her understanding of trauma when working with couples.
Shelley is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. Shelley works with couples to encourage connection, focusing on the positive strengths of their relationship as well as each other, and helps them to work through issues using Intentional Dialogue. Teaching and coaching skills that will create healthy, loving relationships, where couples can experience safety, love, compassion and true intimacy, is her passion and gift.
Shelley truly loves her work since her deepest desire is to help people explore the blocks that are getting in the way of them feeling in charge of their life, so that they may experience all the wonder and hope of what personal healing and growth has to offer.
